Chesapeake Bay Clean Water Farm Awards Given to 3 Farms

Three farms within the Chesapeake Bay Watershed received the Clean Water Farm Award for their efforts to protect the Chesapeake Bay during the Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts’, Inc. (PACD) annual conference and awards ceremony. Recognition is given annually to those farmers who are environmentally conscious in the management of their farm operations and who also exhibit an understanding of the roles we all play in protecting the state’s waterways.

The 2012 recipients are Irvin (Jim) and Cindy Hess (Lebanon County), Julie and Greg Perry/Sundance Life Farm (Bradford County), and Michael and Vanessa Sherman/Sherman Beef Cattle (Lycoming). Click on the recipient to read more about their farming operation.

The program is coordinated by the Pennsylvania Chesapeake Bay Education Office (administered by PACD). Sponsored by the Department of Environmental Protection’s Chesapeake Bay Program.
