{"id":27361,"date":"2026-05-07T18:55:54","date_gmt":"2026-05-07T18:55:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pacd.org\/?p=27361"},"modified":"2026-05-07T18:55:54","modified_gmt":"2026-05-07T18:55:54","slug":"five-conservation-districts-receive-grant-for-environmental-education","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pacd.org\/?p=27361","title":{"rendered":"Five Conservation Districts Receive Grant for Environmental Education"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-24929 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/pacd.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/DEPlogo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"355\" height=\"75\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pacd.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/DEPlogo.jpg 800w, https:\/\/pacd.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/DEPlogo-300x63.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pacd.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/DEPlogo-768x162.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 355px) 100vw, 355px\" \/>Congratulations to the following conservation districts for receiving PA Department of Environmental Protection&#8217;s Environmental Education Grants:<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li><strong>Erie County Conservation District:<\/strong>\u00a0$30,000 for the \u201cHidden Creeks Public Art Project,\u201d which will create and install 8 public art pieces and accompanying signs, 2 stand-alone signs, and an interactive website to highlight the history of the Mill Creek Flood, the engineering of the Mill Creek Tube, the impact on water quality by burying a creek beneath city infrastructure, and how the community can assist with the preservation and conservation of our water supply.<\/li>\r\n\t<li><strong>Lehigh County Conservation District:\u00a0<\/strong>$5,000 for the \u201cReclaiming Roots: From Classroom to Courtyard\u201d program, which, in partnership with Whitehall-Coplay Middle School, will transform an underutilized courtyard into a vibrant outdoor classroom that will offer hands-on learning opportunities that connect students to concepts of climate resilience, water systems, and sustainability<\/li>\r\n\t<li><strong>Luzerne Conservation District<\/strong>: $4,987 for \u201cFostering Inclusive Connections to the Watershed,\u201d which, in partnership with Eastern Pennsylvania Coalition for Abandoned Mine Reclamation and North Branch Land Trust, will hold six high school-level workshops for underserved communities.
