Nutrient Management Technician

POSITION: Nutrient Management Technician
DEPARTMENT: Conservation District - 40 Hours/Week
SALARY RANGE: $15.11/hour up to $23.36/hour Grade N-12
$31,428.80/annum up to $48,588.80/annum
(Most positions are typically filled at entry level salary)
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Environmental Science, or related natural resource field. One to two (1-2) years working experience in field of public or private soil conservation. Agricultural experience strongly preferred. Must have or acquire Nutrient Management Act public certification. Computer skills required.
DUTIES: To apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in the implementation of the PA Chesapeake Bay Program. Duties include preparing grant funding requests; administering grants; preparing nutrient management plans; providing technical assistance to landowners; coordinating engineering design, bidding and contracting procedures; surveying; site inspections; preparing records and reports; and assisting with tours, field days, and other public education outreach programs.

Under general supervision of the Manager of Delaware County Conservation District performs a variety of duties pertaining to environmental protection and natural resource conservation.
With the Manager or independently:
Provides technical assistance to improve watershed organization development, and implement programs that will improve the quality and quantity of surface and groundwater resources. The focus of this work relates to watershed assessment, procurement of funding, technical assistance, and the creation of work plans and strategies. Prepares correspondence related to department programs, special projects, awards, and contests. Maintains records on time spent on various activities and reports to the Manager. Prepares and presents informational and educational programs. Assists with conducting seminars and workshops. Attends meetings and training sessions as required, which may involve limited overnight travel. Performs related duties as required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Bachelors Degree in Biology, Environmental Resource Management,
Geoenvironmental Studies, Hydrology, or related field required.
2. Experience doing watershed management, coordinating stream programs,
land use planning, etc.
3. An ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
to a wide range of individuals and groups is essential.
4. Ability to traverse difficult terrain.
5. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
6. Valid driver's license is required.

Watershed Specialist/Education Coordinator
The Luzerne Conservation District is accepting resumes for the full-time position of Watershed Specialist/Education Coordinator. This position requires the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to a wide range of individuals and groups. Strong organizational skills are also required. Applicants will be ranked according to related education and experience for the required job duties.

in environmental resource management, or a related field such as

Stormwater Engineer
Monroe County Conservation District is seeking an
individual to perform duties under the District's Soil and Water
Conservation Program. Responsibilities include erosion and sediment
control and post construction stormwater management plan reviews
and site inspections. Team player a must! Requirements include BS
in Civil Engineering and PE license in PA supplemented by experience
in E&S control and stormwater management BMPs related to land
development. Knowledge of construction methods and hydraulic structures
a plus. Must have a valid driver's license. Salary range $52,000-$81,000

Erosion and Sediment Control Technician
Seeking qualified applicants for full time position
of Erosion and Sediment Control Technician. Requires excellent
communication skills, computer knowledge, technical and organizational
abilities, initiative. Will be responsible for delegated duties
under Pennsylvania's Erosion Control Regulations, Stream Encroachments,
Bio-solids, and the Dirt and Gravel Road Program. Will provide
technical assistance, plan review, project design, construction
inspection, complaint investigation, and educational outreach.
The position will also provide technical support to the public
in Erosion Control and Stream Management. Minimum qualifications:
degree or technical training in Agriculture, Agronomy, Environmental
Science, Civil Engineering or related field or combination of
experience, education and training. The applicant must have a
valid driver's license and be able to navigate rough terrain.
Starting salary range $20,000 -$22,000.
