To cap off Conservation District Week, the McKean County Conservation District (MCCD) directors and staff held a legislative tour to promote dedicated funding for the Agricultural Conservation Assistance Program. The district welcomed Senator Dush, Representative Causer, Commissioner Tom Kreiner, Ann Kaufman from Congressman Glenn Thompson’s office, State Conservation Commission Executive Director Doug Wolfgang, and representatives from the State Conservation Commission, Penn State Extension, and USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service to the event.

The 2024 Spring Leadership Webinar series will continue to focus on Board Development with a pair of lunch-and-learn webinars on two Wednesdays, May 29, and June 12. These webinars will cover the topics presented at the in-person regional Strategic Board Development Workshops, including SCC guidelines and requirements for both director nomination and approval of nominating organizations, the importance of board development in the district’s success, and the role of intentional outreach in recruitment strategy.

The Section 319 Virtual Watershed Planning and Implementation Meeting will take place from 9:00 a.m. to Noon daily May 28 and 29, 2024. The event is open to entities involved in Section 319 Nonpoint Source Management projects, including conservation district staff, DEP and EPA staff, incorporated watershed associations, counties, municipalities, councils of governments, 501(c)(3) non-profits, educational institutions, and municipal authorities.
